Business leaders gather at SUSTEF's SUSTech Club establishment ceremony May 23, 2018 Latest
On the afternoon of May 22, SUSTech Education Foundation (SUSTEF) held the SUSTech Club Establishment Ceremony and initiated rounds of discussions based on the theme “Intellects Leading the Future at SUSTech.”
A long list of esteemed guests joined the ceremony at the Intercontinental Shenzhen, such as Vanke Founder Wang Shi, President of China Society of Education Reform (CSER) Zhang Jing’an, President of Shenzhen Charity Federation Yao Xinyao, Chairman of Taizhou Finance Investment Company Jiang Hong and Chairman of Runyang Group (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. Yang Jun.
The SUSTech Club will provide a brand-new platform for entrepreneurs, technological experts, scholars, and artists to exchange ideas, and it will spare no efforts in inviting elites and top experts from all walks of life for the better development of SUSTech, Shenzhen, and China.
SUSTech President Chen Shiyi opened the ceremony by introducing major recent developments of the university, saying “A first-class city like Shenzhen needs a first-class university, and SUSTech aims to be that first-class university for Shenzhen in the near future.”
Next, the founder of Vanke, one of China’s largest property developers, Wang Shi made a speech named “Entrepreneurs’ Social Responsibility,” which resolved around reforms and innovative measures throughout Vanke’s development. He compared Vanke’s achievements in innovation to SUSTech endeavors and spoke highly of the university.
CSER President Zhang Jing’an followed by delivering a speech on China’s Outline of Innovation-Driven Development Strategy. Zhang pointed out that SUSTech would play a key role in the implementation of the outline.
SUSTEF President and University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong added that the SUSTech Club was born during the rising phase of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, which was probably the best opportunity for the club to attract social capital, engage in collaborations on production, education, and research, and foster a team of leading talents.
