SUSTech Professor Zheng Chunmiao makes keynote report at the 2017 China Environmental Science Society Meeting
More than 2000 experts, scholars, government officials and business representatives gathered on October 20, 2017, for the China Environmental Science Society Meeting in Xiamen, including the Vice Minister of the National Environmental Protection and the Chairman of the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences. SUSTech professor and dean of School of Environmental Science and Engineering Zheng Chunmiao was invited to give a keynote speech at the conference entitled "Earth system science and eco-environmental protection”.

In his speech, Zheng presented two examples to illustrate how to consider water pollution control and ecological and environmental protection from the perspective of environmental earth system science. He introduced the framework of eco-hydrological coupled modeling and the development of substance cycle system model in the Heihe River Basin based on his ongoing research with the National Foundation Committee's "Heihe River Basin Eco-hydrological Integrated Research" project, as well as models for sustainable use of water resources in arid and semi-arid environments.
SUSTech Distinguished Visiting Professor Ni Jinren,served as the member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, also gave a presentation during the event.
