SUSTech Ph.D. student receives Foundation of Tang Xiaoyan Environmental Science Innovation Scholarship
Recently, Ying MENG, a Ph.D. student of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), was awarded the third prize of the Foundation of Tang Xiaoyan Environmental Science Innovation Scholarships of Peking University. She becomes the first student of SUSTech to receive this scholarship.
Academician TANG Xiaoyan was a Professor of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Peking University and an academic leader in the field of atmospheric environmental chemistry in China. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to scientific research, unique insights, and outstanding performance in the field of environmental science in China, on the occasion of her 80th birthday, her students donated money to establish the Foundation of Tang Xiaoyan Environmental Science Innovation Scholarships of Peking University. This scholarship is one of three major environmental scholarships in China and is overseen by the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Peking University.
Under the guidance of her tutor, Chair Professor Junguo LIU of ESE, Ying MENG published seven articles (six SCI, one Chinese core) and three articles (two SCI articles, one Chinese core) as the first author. One of the SCI articles was published in Water Resources Research, a top international journal in the field of water resources.
During her Ph.D., she was successfully selected into the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) Young Scientist Summer Program (YSSP). She went to the IIASA in Vienna, Austria, to conduct collaborative research.
