2022-11-04

The Soil Science Society of China (CSSS) recently announced the results of its 8th CSSS Outstanding Young Scholar Award.

Associate Professor Junjian WANG from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) received the award.

This year, ten recipients received the accolade, which included scholars from Tsinghua University, Peking University, other domestic universities, and research institutes.

Prof. Junjian WANG joined SUSTech in 2017. His research is focused on developing and applying cutting-edge and molecular-level analyses of natural organic matter and pollutants to study the critical impacts of global change and anthropogenic disturbance on the plant-soil-water system and environmental quality.

He received more than ten research grants, including the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars of China and the Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of Guangdong Province.

Prof. WANG has published more than 90 papers in domestic and international journals, including Nature Communications, New Phytologist, Environmental Science & Technology, and Water Research.

He is currently on the editorial boards of several journals, and has served as an international reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the American Natural Science Foundation (NSF), and the French National Research Agency (ANR).

The CSSS Outstanding Young Scholar Award aims to encourage outstanding young science and technology talents in China’s soil industry, and reward them for their achievements in social and economic development and scientific and technological progress.
