SUSTech’s Zhan TIAN awarded 2023 Distinguished International Associates Program from Royal Academy of Engineering
Zhan TIAN, Research Professor of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), was recently awarded the 2023 Distinguished International Associates Program from the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) in recognition of his influence in strengthening international cooperation with the UK in his professional field.
A total of 11 awardees have received funding in 2023, and Prof. TIAN is one of the first batches of recipients from China.
Prof. Zhan TIAN joined SUSTech in 2018 and is mainly engaged in the study of climate change impact analysis. He has published 75 academic papers in international journals such as Nature Water, PNAS Nexus, Water Research, and Science Bulletin.
He has co-published five books and has also been a leading contributor to 11 highly influential policy reports and briefings (five of which have been approved by ministerial, provincial, and national leaders).
In the past five years, Prof. TIAN has been the Principal Investigator (PI) over seven national and international projects, including National Key R&D Programs, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) projects, and the UK’s Newton Fund.
The RAEng is an academic institution and the national academy of engineering in the UK. It is committed to bringing together a community of leading business people, entrepreneurs, innovators, and academics from every part of engineering and technology to promote the development of engineering and technology.
The Distinguished International Associates Program aims to develop a broad international community or network of excellent diverse engineers across countries and disciplines, with research and innovation links to the UK, to work alongside the RAEng to enhance progress towards achieving its goals for an inclusive economy and sustainable society.
